A Florida man has been sentenced to thirteen years in prison after causing a car accident, which led to the death of a woman.

According to The Palm Beach Post, Mark Kamara, 33, pled guilty to DUI manslaughter Monday for the death of 50-year-old Diana Lennard.

On May 9, 2013, Kamara was driving westbound in his Ford Explorer shortly after midnight when he crashed into a Honda Civic, heading southbound, driven by Diana Lennard at an intersection, according to WPTV. The resulting crash caused Kamara’s Explorer to roll into a utility pole. It was reported at the time that the man neglected to adhere to traffic signals and ran a red light.

Lennard died at the scene.

Kamara suffered minor injuries from the accident and was not arrested until September of 2013. At the time of his arrest, Kamara was charged with DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide.

Mark Kamara was a former off-air employee of WPTV. He left the station in March 2013.
