The former financial officer for the rock 'n' roll group Pearl Jam was sentenced to 14 months in prison late Friday afternoon.
Rickey Goodrich was charged with embezzling over $300,000 from Pearl Jam over a three year time period, The Seattle Times reported.
He pleaded guilty to six counts of first-degree theft. He pled to using company accounts to pay off personal debt and go on vacations with his family, along with a variety of other non business related items, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney's office.
This sentence was on the higher end of the spectrum for the charges brought against Goodrich, which started at first-degree theft.
Superior Court Judge Roger Rogoff explained his thought process behind the judgment. "There is nothing more devastating to an organization than someone who takes money from the inside," said Rogoff.
The attorney for Goodrich was pushing for probation because this was a first time offense for his client. Goodrich will now have two weeks to get his affairs in line before he will have to report to prison to serve his sentence.
Goodrich was fired from Pearl Jam back in 2010, The Huffington Post added.
