An ex-Microsoft employee may have leaked some of the company’s trade secrets.

Alex Kibkalo, a former software architect for Microsoft, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stealing codes to Windows 8 and a piece of piracy-combating software to a French technology blogger back in 2012, The Seatttle Post-Intelligencer reports.

Officials for Microsoft say that his leaks could have been the result of Kibkalo’s reaction to a poor review based on his performance for the company.

According to reports, investigators recovered messages between the angry former employee and the unnamed blogger. Apparently, the blogger told Kibklao that the leaks would be “pretty illegal” in which he replied “I know :).”

However, KVNU reports that when the blogger received the code, he forwarded it to another Microsoft employee to verify whether it was real or not. It eventually passed on to a Microsoft executive, which signaled them to look further into the matter.

The company has not released any comment regarding the situation at this time.
