Four hikers have been found after getting trapped during California’s harsh storms.
After much rain and mudslides early Sunday morning, the hikers got stuck in Malibu Creek State Park. ABC News reports. The high waters trapped the four next to an overflowing stream and a wall of the park. They were rescued at 3 a.m. and taken out of the situation by helicopter.
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department reports that the hikers were tired after the 8 hour incident, but were not injured. The Department is still on high alert for mudslides throughout California.
According to CNN, the Long Beach locals are in their mid-20s. Police had feared that the low nighttime temperatures would cause the hikers hypothermia, but they are reported to be doing well at this time.
The heavy storms caused some areas of California to be evacuated, some of which still remain in effect. Despite the heavy rains over the last few days, California is still facing a large drought issue throughout the state.
