While you’re waiting for the start of Game of Thrones’ fourth season, you can read the first chapter of The Winds of Winter, the sixth book in George R.R. Martin’s a Song of Ice and Fire series. The author just released the first chapter on his website.
Martin posted the chapter here, but he also said on his blog that it’s not exactly a new chapter, notes The Huffington Post.
“The new chapter is actually an old chapter. But no, it's not one I've published or posted before, and I don't even think I've read it at a con (could be wrong there, I've done readings at so many cons, it all tends to blur together),” Martin explained. He said that none of his editors had seen it either. The first draft was written awhile ago, “predating any of the samples that you have seen,” he told his fans.
The next chapter in the Westeros saga still hasn’t been scheduled. “This is such a huge series and so convoluted and hard to structure as he approaches the end that it is going to take time to get exactly right,” Jane Johnson of HarperCollins told The Guardian.
Some fans are nervous that Game of Thrones may actually get ahead of A Song of Ice and Fire, but the showrunenrs recently told Vanity Fair that they do know how the story ends.
Game of Thrones season four starts on April 6.
