The television event for Monday is the series finale of CBS’ How I Met Your Mother. The show will join several of the best comedies in history and comes to an end after nine seasons, just like Seinfeld and The Office.
HIMYM may have had its bumps in the row and many of the later episodes were just frustrating, but it will be wonderful to finally see how Ted meets the Mother.
The narrator for HIMYM is Ted, played by Josh Radnor - although the voice is actually Bob Saget. Anyway, he’s taken viewers on a nine-year, round-about journey. At several points, it seemed like Ted finally met the one, but as the show’s popularity continued, more seasons were ordered and that drew out the story. Thankfully, creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas decided to end season 8 by introducing Cristin Milioti as the Mother. That meant that she just had to meet Ted in season 9.
Ted’s best friend is Marshall Eriksen, played by Jason Segel. They were college buddies and he met his soul mate early on, Lily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan). Then, there’s the legen-(wait for it)-dary Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders). Barney and Robin just got married in “The End of the Aisle,” setting up the finale. Ted will meet the Mother at their reception.
We don’t know too much about the finale and hopefully, it won’t be morbid. The hour-long finale is tonight at 8 p.m., at which point, Ted can finally let his bored children leave their living room.
