Dayo Okeniyi, who appeared in both The Hunger Games and The Spectacular Now, has reportedly joined Terminator: Genesis. It’s also been confirmed that Genesis is the first part of a planned trilogy.
The actor has been tapped to play the son of Miles Dyson, the scientist who helped create Cyberdyne Systems, notes Variety. While the character (played by Joe Morton) was killed in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, it was revealed that he had a son. It’s not clear how big a role this character will play, but Deadline suggests that it should help turn Okeniyi into a star.
It was also confirmed today that Paramount and David Ellison’s Skydance are planning a standalone Terminator trilogy, which will still be built on the universe created by James Cameron. Filming on Genesis, the first movie, starts soon in Louisiana.
The second and third films will be bame back-to-back. Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier wrote the script for Genesis.
The plot details for the film are unknown, but we do know that it is going to involve some complicated time traveling. Jason Clarke is playing John Connor, Emilia Clarke is his mother, Sarah Connor and Jai Courtney is his father, Kyle Reese. Arnold Schwarzenegger also explained how he’s going to play the cyborg in the movie.
Genesis is scheduled for July 1, 2015.
