Country singer Hunter Hayes proves his talent as he was chosen to remake the title track of Elton John’s remixed album, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.
In honor of the 40th anniversary of Elton’s most celebrated album, the remastered album features covers of nine of the record’s classic hits by contemporary artists.
The Parade has the exclusive first listen of the 22-year-old singers remake of the title song.
According to the label’s reps, producer Peter Asher selected Hayes to sing the title track because he personifies the song’s lyrics: a young artist who wants to get back to his country roots.
“Hunter Hayes has done ‘Yellow Brick Road,’ played all the instruments and he blew my mind,” Elton said, according to Billboard.
Hayes is not the only young artist on the record. Ed Sheeran will be featured, singing “Candle in the Wind,” as well as Miguel featuring Wale covering “Bennie and the Jets” and John Grant singing “Sweet Painted Lady.”
Emeli Sandé will be covering “All the Girls Love Alice” and Fall Out Boy will be singing “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting.”
The new edition of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road will be available on March 25.
