Amethyst Amelia Kelly, better known as rap-pop songstress Iggy Azelea released her new video for the song “Fancy”. Along with fellow up and comer Charli XCX, reliving the best and most memorable moments from the 1990’s hit movie Clueless.
The blond locked Aussie plays Cher perfectly, in full costume, and “as-if” attitude, throwing her mane easily over her shoulder. The best scenes from the movie are included from nearly getting killed by going 15 mph on the freeway to the iconic “Rollin’ With the Homies” party scene that set the late Brittney Murphy’s career ablaze. Yes, of course, the female characters are a little more sexed up than the original but do we really expect anything different from the stiletto-clad “Work” vixen?
“Fancy” plays to Azelea’s curt sing-song rap style, with some help on the chorus from Charli XCX I’m so fancy/you already know/I’m in the fast lane/from head to Tokyo. The slower electronic filled groove leaves room for both singers to show off their verbal skills.
“Fancy” is Azelea’s latest single off her debut album The New Classic, coming on the heels of her The New Classic Tour sponsored by Live Nation and Monster Energy Outbreak Tour. The 12 date trek sees her hitting both coasts throughout April and May, with shows in New York City, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle. The New Classic is scheduled for release on April 14 through Virgin EMI and Island/Def Jam label.
