It seems another sad ending has come to early for year another band mate of the Stooges. Scott Asheton, the drummer died Sunday at the age of 64.
Although the cause of his death is unknown at this time, another band mate, Iggy Pop, remembered the drummer in a Facebook post Sunday saying, “I have never heard anyone play the drums with more meaning than Scott Asheton. He was like my brother. He and Ron have left a huge legacy to the world. The Ashetons have always been and continue to be a second family to me,” reported Detroit Free Press.
Additionally the band’s publicist, Nasty Little Map confirmed the news.
Iggy Pop is now the lone survivor of the band that combined 60’s rock with a mix of punk that followed. Asheton’s brother, Ron Asheton, who played the guitar in the Stooges, died at 60 back in 2009 as previously reported.
Asheton had been well throughout the past years and most famously was forced out of a scheduled concert in Paris due to an undisclosed illness.
