It seems highly unlikely that 71-year-old Harrison Ford will want to play Indiana Jones again and, if that’s the case, Bradley Cooper may be on a list of names to replace him.
A report from the Latino Review suggests that Ford could still play the most famous fictional archaeologist ever created, but the window is getting smaller. If Ford isn’t up to the task, a James Bond-esque route is the option, where you have different actors playing the character. Cooper, easily one of the most popular actors working today, would obviously be on the top of any list of potential replacements.
The site also reports that Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) recently pitched an idea to Lucasfilm, now owned by Disney.
While it has been nearly six years since the critically panned Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Disney definitely has a reason to want to make another Indy movie. Not only does the company host Indy attractions at both Disneyland and Disney World, dut the studio also grabbed complete control of the franchise. It was previously a shared property with Paramount. Disney has said that another film is probably as much as three years away.
Prior to Crystal Skull, Ford played Indy in Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. All four films have been directed by Steven Spielberg.
