IndiGo flight 6E 031's airplane's landing gear caught fire on Saturday during landing in Kathmandu, Nepal.
According to The Wall Street Journal, none of the 182 people on board the Airbus A320 flight were injured. The fire was spotted by a ground engineer after he saw fire and smoke coming from the right wheel.
IndiGo says the airplane had a "normal landing," and the fire was discovered afterwards, prompting an emergency evacuation of the plane. Someone involved in the investigation into the budget airliner's fire says that the fire is likely the result of heavy breaking creating sparks which then set of a fire when combined with a hydraulic leak.
India Today reports that a statement from the airliner noted, "All passengers were evacuated by the IndiGo crew in 81 seconds. All 175 passengers, one infant and six crew members are safe."
The fire follows just a day after a Malaysian Airlines' flight Wikimedia Commons
