On Tuesday, the Chrysler Group unveiled a new Renegade compact crossover SUV.

According to CNN, the Renegade, which was built in Italy, will be the first Jeep built exclusively outside of the United States.

The SUV debuted at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland.

Automotive News reports that the compact Renegade is key to parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' global growth plans for the off-road brand and will be sold in over 100 countries.

"The all-new 2015 Jeep Renegade expands the brand’s portfolio and targets the rapidly expanding small SUV segment around the globe," Mike Manley, Jeep’s chief executive said in a statement.

In terms of size, the SUV’s small boxy crossover will fall just below the Jeep’s Patriot.

Chrysler said that the vehicle will use a new "small-wide 4x4 architecture" designed to combine off-road capability with that of car-like driving on the road.

The crossover will be produced in Melfi, Italy and will make its way to U.S. dealerships at the end of the year.
