The musician Jimi Hendrix is getting an official postal stamp. The recording artist is receiving a limited edition “Forever” stamp.

According to Rolling Stone, Janie Hendrix said, “He's definitely one of our American icons, so I definitely hope the fans feel the same way about the stamp. It's an honor to put that stamp on any letter or card that you send, and it's just a constant reminder of who he was and who he continues to be in our lives."

The Music Icons will feature other artists who have a defining position within the cultural landscape. Possible other artists to be featured on the stamp include John Lennon. In August, singer Janis Joplin will be featured on a stamp.

An official postage stamp has been created for the legendary guitarist. The artwork comes from Rudy Gutierrez. The guitar legend has appeared in the news for a number of reasons lately. An official biopic has been ordered about the “Purple Haze” recording artist.

Hendrix died in 1970.
