Joey Molland, very well known for his music in the band Bandfinger, released his fourth solo album, Return to Memphis, back in December. His soul-filled music combines many genres of music to make one in-sync sound.
Molland, 66, is both a musician and composer and has played in many bands over his music career. His most popular band has always been Bandfinger, to the point where Molland has used the band’s name even after its breakup in 1974.
The album Return to Memphis comes 12 years after his last album, This Way Up. Molland has, however, appeared in other albums, like Wear A New Face by Time Schools. Molland also produced that album.
The album Return to Memphis features 10 of Molland’s most recent works and were recorded in the Royal Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. All the songs, according to Molland, go back to the Memphis music he grew up with as a kid, but is very different than his usual style of music.
Some top songs on the album are “Walk Out in the Rain,” “Hero,” and “Is it Any Wonder.”
Overall, the album is a very personal piece from Molland and is very creative and entertaining.
