Johnny Depp will finally be making that trip to China he was supposed to take last year. The international superstar will be making a promotional tour for Warner Bros.’ Transcendence, which was co-produced by Chinese film company DMG.
Depp is set to make television appearances during the tour with Chinese actors, along with musicians and other entertainers there, reports TheWrap. It is going to be Depp’s only international promotional trip for the film, which was directed by Oscar winning cinematography Wally Pfister.
The two-day tour will begin on March 31 in the Middle Kingdom, according to Deadline.
DMG has experience with Hollywood stars in China, as it brought Robert Downey Jr. there last April to promote Iron Man 3. Depp was supposed to go there for Disney’s The Lone Ranger, but the trip was nixed when the release date was changed.
Transcendence, in which Depp has his brain uploaded into a computer, will open in the U.S. on April 18. It doesn’t have a Chinese release date, but it will likely open around that time.
The film was produced by DMG and Alcon Entertainment and will be distributed by Warner Bros. in the U.S.
