Johnny Depp's 'Transcendence' to open on same day in U.S., China

Johnny Depp's upcoming sci-fi thriller Transcendence will be opening on the same day in both the United States and China.

The film will open on April 18 in the two largest movie markets in the world but in China Transcendence will only be seen in 3D, The Hollywood Reporter added.

China has now become the largest movie market in the world, Deadline reported.

This is an interesting move for the film, releasing it in both territories on the same day.This is move comes as a result that producers and distributors of the film do not want it circulating online. Fans see an increase in online pirating when films are released on different days in international markets.

Depp himself will be arriving to promote the film in Beijing on March 31st and will stay in the country for two days of press promotional events.

In the United States fans can see the film in IMAX, 2D 3D and in some theaters DMAX, when the film is released on April 18th.

Transcendence stars Johnny Depp, Kate Mara, Rebecca Hall and Morgan Freeman.
