This September, a unique book from a Rock god will hit bookshelves. No, it’s not another memoir about tours, affairs and drugs. Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has written a picture book with his daughter and it’s due out on Sept. 9.

Gus & Me: The Story of my Granddad and My First Guitar will be published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, which announced the book today. The text was written by Richards, inspired by a story in his best-selling memoir Life with Barnaby Harris and Bill Shapiro. His daughter, artist Theodora Richards, provided the illustrations.

In the book, Richards recounts the impact his grandfather, Theodore Augustus Dupree, had on his love of music. “This unique autobiographical picture book honors the special bond between a grandfather and grandson and celebrates the artistic talents of the Richards family through the generations,” the publisher stated.

Richards also provided family photos for the book. The hardcover version will come with an exclusive CD.

“I have just become a grandfather for the fifth time, so I know what I’m talking about,” Richards said. “The bond, the special bond, between kids and grandparents is unique and should be treasured. This is a story of one of those magical moments. May I be as great a grandfather as Gus was to me.”

Richards is referring to Angela Richards’ new baby boy, Otto Reed, who was born on Feb. 6, reports NME.

Richards’ Life was published back in 2010.
