The former guitarists from Red Hot Chili Peppers and Mars Volta, John Frusciante and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez have come together to form Kimono Kult, who just released their debut EP, Hiding in the Light.

The four-track EP is available for stream on Consequence of Sounds and will be released today, March 4th through Neurotic Yell, according to Rolling Stone>

Neurotic Yell CEO and Swahili Blonde drummer, Nicole Turley, produced the EP and added some percussion flavor to the interesting sound. Teri Gender Bender, Dante White and Laena Geronimo make up the rest of Kimono Kult.

The band can be described as a musical melting pot of jazz, electro, dub and avant-freak with a large emphasis on the Spanish language, as reported in Under the Radar>

Gender Bender discussed the Spanish lyrics on the EP and told Rolling Stone,> “There is so much left to explore – pronunciation, etc," she said. "Because Spanish-speaking singers are strict with so many unspoken rules, I approached my mother language as if I were an alien from outer space. That was the mindset."
