A man is recovering in Florida after a shark took a bite of his arm while kite surfing at Delray Beach on Saturday.
According to the Daily Mail, Kurt Hoffman amazingly survived the attack, which left as many as 20 teeth punctures in his left arm. The bite mark measures about seven inches wide.
The Associated Press noted that the 43-year-old said that the attack was so fast that he wasn't sure what happened until he saw the wounds on his arm. He managed to pull himself back on his board and yelled to his friends about what occurred.
“I go to cut back on wave. ... Then, all of the sudden, it went after my forearm," he said. "(The shark) took a grasp at it, clenched on it like a bear trap."
Hoffman, a kite surfing instructor at the beach, called his wife to take him to the hospital.
He said he believes the shark, possibly a blacktip, bit him by mistake and he will be more cautious in the water now.
Florida ranked No. 1 in the world last year for unprovoked shark attacks with 23.
