This Sunday was very disappointing for Leonardo DiCaprio. He once again fell short of winning the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in The Wolf of Wall Street. DiCaprio had stated that he was going to take a slight break from acting after that film to relax since he has been very busy the past year and a half with making three films in a row.
DiCaprio was attached to be 20th Century Fox’s new Travis McGee film The Deep Good-by but dropped out of the film this past Wednesday reports Entertainment Weekly. The film is the first of a large book series about a beach bum living in Fort Lauderdale who lives on a houseboat that takes mysterious cases and gets into trouble helping people.
Scheduling conflicts are said to be the reason why DiCaprio dropped out of the film. The role of Travis McGee was being designed to be portrayed specifically by DiCaprio. Appian Way, DiCaprio’s production company will still produce the film along with Chernin Entertainment.
According to the Khaleej Times, there was no conflict or issue between DiCaprio and the director of the film James Mangold, just that DiCaprio’s schedule has conflicts and he could not commit to filming the movie. DiCaprio will only produce the film and it will be interesting to see who they will cast to replace DiCaprio since the role was designed for DiCaprio himself.
