The NFL is still activity pursuing musician M.I.A. in the aftermath of her Super Bowl XLVI performance back in 2012. Over 167 million fans tuned in to watch the Super Bowl back in 2012 and they all saw M.I.A. give the "bird" to the camera during her performance of "Give Me All Your Luvin."
The Hollywood Reporter announced the news right after the performance happened that the NFL was going to attempt to sue M.I.A. for giving the middle finger live on camera.
M.I.A. wasn't paid for her performance, which is normal for Super Bowl halftime performers but the league wanted $1.5 million from the musician because she breached her contract and tarnished the goodwill of the NFL and their family-friendly reputation, Billboard reported.
Now that number is changing, as the NFL wants $15.1 million more in "restitution." This new number is based on what advertisers would have paid for ads during that time frame.
M.I.A. spoke out about the NFL claiming this amount in restitution. "The NFL's continued pursuit of this proceeding is transparently an exercise by the NFL intended solely to bully and make an example of Respondents for daring to challenge NFL," said M.I.A.
