A Massachusetts mother has been arrested after causing a crash that sent a van carrying three children into a pond Saturday.

Elizabeth Facey, 21, has been charged with drunk driving and child endangerment after running a red light while under the influence with her 3-year-old child in the car, according to The New York Daily News.

Facey reportedly crashed into the side of a minvan with such force that the van went through an intersection and into a frigid pond. The van was carrying one adult and three children.

One of the victims, a 14-year-old girl, sustained an injury to her hand, according to WHDH.

Due to the force of the crash and the freezing temperatures, officials are aware of just how deadly this accident could have been for all involved.

"This could have been horrible. Deeper out, further out, it's a quarry. It's actually very deep in the middle. They were actually very lucky that it went into the beginning of it. As we were trying to put together the investigation, you could actually see the car slipping more and more and more into the water,” said Robert Tusino of the Milford Police Department.

Facey is now under the investigation of The Department of Children and Families.
