After Taco Bell debuted its breakfast menu on Thursday, McDonald’s has decided to fight back in the breakfast battle by giving out free coffee to consumers for two weeks.

According to the Associated Press, the largest fast-food-chain will start the promotion of free McCafe coffee during breakfast hours from March 31 through April 13.

The chain decided to fight back after Taco Bell took direct aim at McDonald’s with its new ad featuring men named "Ronald McDonald" eating the taco chain’s breakfast.

CNN Money reported that Taco Bell plans to stand out in the breakfast market by offering new items besides the traditional breakfast sandwiches served at other locations. Some of the menu items included a Waffle Taco and a Crunchwarp filled scrambled eggs, hash browns, melted cheese and bacon or sausage.

McDonald’s has gained a ton of competition in the breakfast market in recent years including from Starbucks. The coffee giant recently changed up its breakfast menu in an effort to become a bigger force in the market.

While others all want a piece of the pie, McDonald’s is continuously ranked No.1 in the market for breakfast on the go.
