Epic Records and the Michael Jackson estate announced another official album release on Monday from the late King of Pop, who died in 2009.
The new album, titled Xscape, will “contemporize” classic Jackson tracks with help from Epic CEO L.A. Reid and hot producers like Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate and John McClain. Reid had full access to the Jackson archives, which helped create the eight brand new tracks.
“Michael was always on the cutting edge and was constantly reaching out to new producers, looking for new sounds. He was always relevant and current,” John Branca and John McClain, the executors of the estate, said in a statement. “These tracks, in many ways, capture that spirit. We thank L.A. Reid for his vision.”
Reid noted that the modern music industry owes a great deal to the “Thriller” singer. “Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with,” the former X Factor judge explained. “We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world.”
The full track list was not released, but you can pre-order the album starting tomorrow on iTunes. Standard and Deluxe Edition CD sets will be available on May 13 worldwide. The deluxe edition will also include the raw recordings used for the main new album.
