A posthumous Michael Jackson album, featuring new music from the deceased King of Pop, has received a May release date. Xscape will be available starting May 13, which includes eight never-before-heard tracks.

The album’s executive producer and CEO of Epic Records, L.A. Reid, announced the album’s official release in a statement on Monday.

"Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with," said Reid, Billboard reports. "We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world."

The album, named after its lead track, was produced by Timbaland. Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome "Jroc" Harmon and John McClain also worked on the highly-anticipated project.

According to USA Today, they helped to “contemporize” the songs in order to give them a more modern feel. Fans who want to purchase a deluxe edition of the album will be able to hear the original recordings in addition to the new ones.
