Microsoft has finally unveiled new software which will allow Apple iPad users to download Microsoft Office products on their devices.

Apple iPad users have been asking for Microsoft Office apps since the iPad first launched, and Microsoft has listened to the demands by launching Office for iPad . Users will be able to download Powerpoint, Word, and Excel for use on their tablet. The Wall Street Journal reports that the system has been redesigned for easy tablet use, and marks the beginning of a new era for the technology brand as they move away from a "Windows-first" mentality by making Microsoft products available over multiple platforms.

Office for iPad is connected to the Cloud and works on a subscription-based payment plan, called Office 365, reports Tech Crunch . By purchasing a payment plan, users can share documents with multiple people and edit them from their tablets. Plans start at $6.99 a month for a personal plan and $9.99 for a Home Premium plan that lets up to five people access documents.

Office for iPad is available in the App Store.
