Country music’s biggest star, Merle Haggard, will be honored at this year’s Academy of Country Music Awards.
Miranda Lambert and George Strait be performing a tribute to Haggard’s hits during the Academy of Country Music on April 6th, according to the Associated Press. Lambert and Strait will be performing the songs, “Tonight the Bottle Let Me Down” and “I’m a Lonesome Fugitive.” Garth Brooks will be presenting the Crystal Milestone award for singer-songwriter.
According to Billboard, country music stars are preparing for the event. Bryan, Lambert, Shelton, George Strait, Keith Urban, Florida Georgia Line, the Band Perry, Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Toby Keith, and Lady Antebellum with Stevie Nicks are set to perform at the ceremony. The academy also announced on Friday that The Band Perry will open a show. Hunter Hayes will perform for a child hunger charity campaign.
The 49th annual Academy of Country Music Awards will be held on April 6. Bryan and Blake Shelton will be co-host the show, which will be broadcast at 8 p.m. on CBS from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
