Pharrell Williams had a stellar year. With a performance at the Oscars of his Billboard Hot 100 hit, “Happy,” and a great year at the Grammys, Williams is proving to be a versatile artist.
The 40-year-old said his diverse background provided a great foundation for creating his newest effort, G I R L. The singer/ songwriter has not only been working on his own projects, but he’s been glad to produce other artists as well.
According to the Associated Press, Williams, who also worked with the Neptunes said, "I wanted to work with all cultures and all kinds of people so it could teach me more about my own craft. All of the artists we were blessed to work with that didn't look like us, that didn't sound like us or didn't dance like us, all of that was the very reason I was able to make this album."
New tracks from G I R L include “Gust of Wind” with Daft Punk. Williams collaborated with Daft Punk on “Get Lucky” and Robin Thicke on “Blurred Lines,” according to the Chicago Tribute. Both songs were recognized at the Grammys this year.
