A 19-year-old Naval Academy football player died Tuesday while in a coma three days after he collapsed at a practice.

Will McKamey was sent to Baltimore Shock Truama after he blacked out at a practice last Saturday. USA Today reports that the runner back had his family at his side when he passed. His father, Randy McKamey, who is the head coach of his son’s high school football team, has gone to Twitter to ask the public to keep them in their prayers.

According to the Distinct Athletethe McKamey family said that Will did not have “a bad hit or unusual or extreme contact” at the time of the incident.
Navy Academy confirmed the tragic death in a news release:

“During this most difficult of times, first and foremost, our prayers and thoughts turn to Randy, Kara and their beautiful family,” the release read. “Our deepest and most sincere condolences go out to their entire family and friends.”

Randy McKamey has stated that he will soon be talking to the media about his son’s final moments.
