A New Jersey motel fire broke out early Friday morning and some residents are dead, injured or unaccounted for.
According to USA Today, the two-story motel building was destroyed, leaving three people dead, eight people injured and ten people reportedly unaccounted for, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato said.
A resident of the motel describe the fiery scene, “That thing went up quicker than I've ever seen," Mark Lynch, 45, said, “The flames were hotter than I've ever felt,” reports USA Today.
The New Jersey Star-Ledger writes that the fire was reported to them at 5:42 a.m. Capt. Robert Dikun of the Point Pleasant Beach police said investigators are working to determine how the fire started and where it began.
As the firefighters put out the fire, remaining residents and other locals gathered outside. Surrounding property was damaged during the morning fire.
The motel, Mariner's Cove Motor Inn, was located in Point Pleasant Beach in New Jersey, blocks away from the beach. The motel opened in 1985.
