Famous New York band, The Rapture, has officially broken up.

Self-Titled Mag reports that the band's label, DFA Records, has confirmed that the band had quietly split.

Their split was so quiet, that many didn't know until they saw the press release for the Red Bull Music Academy's New York Takeover listed Luke Jenner as "ex-The Rapture."

The group has been very inactive in the past year, doing only a few DJ sets. Jenner has also been performing solo shows around New York, and working with other artists like Joakim.

In an interview with Pitchfork in 2011, Jenner described his exit from The Rapture in 2008, and his decision to return.

"I was afraid of losing the band for so long that I forgot to take care of myself and state what was important to me," Jenner said. "The fact that I quit something that's so precious to me was an indication that there was a lot of stuff I didn't want to deal with but had to face."

Label manager Jonathan Galkin hoped the band would patch things up, but feels that their break-up may be permanent.

"I kept thinking it might blow over, but that might not be the case," Galkin said.
