After less than nine months of marriage, a woman is sentence to 30 years in prison for the murder of her husband.
Jordan Linn Graham, 22, was sentenced Thursday by a federal judge to murder after she reportedly pushed her new husband off of a cliff days after they were married. Graham pleaded guilty to second- degree murder back in December, reports CNN.
“It was a reckless act,” Graham said in court last December. “I just pushed. I wasn’t thinking of where we were.”
According to UPI, Graham initially lied to police about the incident, saying he fell while they were on a hike with friends. It later came out that Graham was unhappy about her marriage and pushed her husband after they had an argument.
“After providing several false statements to law enforcement officers and impeding the investigation by providing false information, Graham ultimately admitted pushing Cody from behind with both hands,” prosecutors said in a statement Thursday.
Graham reportedly filed a plea to the courts on Wednesday to withdraw her guilty plea, but the claim was denied.
