A 65-year-old man was assaulted in Brooklyn and authorities believe the ‘knockout’ game could be the purpose of the unprovoked attack.
According to the New York Daily News, a 65-year-old Orthodox Jew, who was visiting from England, had just left a wedding reception when the perpetrator ran up behind him grabbed his head and slammed his face into the pavement.
Officials said the victim was taken to an area hospital and suffered a busted lip and chipped tooth.
Just a few weeks ago another attack was reported in Brooklyn. In that instance, four attackers ran up to a 36-year-old woman walking her dog. One of the suspects hit her in the face and the other three hit her in the back, the Gothamist noted.
Attacks from the so-called-knockout-game really started to pick last year across the country. The object of the sick and malicious game is to go up to an unsuspecting stranger and see if they can be knocked out with one punch.
Police do not know if Tuesday’s attack is connected to the game because the victim was not punched or if it is an example of a new twist on the horrific game.
