Part of a Metro parking garage that is under construction collapsed on Friday near downtown Los Angeles. No one was injured in the incident.

According to the Associated Press a section of the structure that will house buses measuring 50 by 75 feet went crashing down Friday morning. It occurred in a very heavily populated area.

While concrete was being poured a monitor noticed that something wasn’t right. He alerted project authorities and workers were able to make it to safety before the collapse. According to the Los Angeles Daily News Metro spokesman Paul Gonzales spoke about the incident saying, “We’re very thankful that no one was injured. Whenever you do a construction project this size, there have to be very specific safety measures in place, and those safety measures worked today.”

At this point they are unsure of exactly what was constructed improperly to cause the collapse but metro, the fire department, and project contractors will conduct an investigation.
