The comedian and noted sci-fi fan is getting the chance to bring a comic book character to life.
On Thursday Marvel announced that Oswalt will be playing Agent Eric Koenig on ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Koenig was created in the Marvel comics in 1966 as a World War II soldier and fought alongside the world's top superspy Nick Fury, who at the time was still ranked as sergeant. Koenig is also an android in the comics, but whether or not he will be in the show is something Oswalt himself is still waiting to find out after being told that he will "have to wait and see."
The Ratatouille star jumped at the chance and expressed his gratitude that he was approached for the role saying "I’m lucky that I’m visible enough that they wanted to bring me in to play this character."
Comic Book Resources notes that Oswalt is now a part of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe which he previously suggested should interconnect with J.J. Abrams' upcoming Star Wars movie in his famous Parks and Recreation filibuster seen below.
