An Allentown, Pa. woman was detained in New York on Monday and has been charged with stabbing her grandfather to death.

According to WFMZ, Chene Angelique Mejias was charged on Tuesday with criminal homicide in the stabbing death of her 65-year-old grandfather Wilson Mejias.

Officers in Pa. received word from the NYPD that a woman reported the death and provided an address to their department. When police checked the residence they found Mejias’ dead body in a room, wrapped in towels and bedding.

Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim ruled the death a homicide and said in a news release that the victim died of “multiple stab wounds.”

Lehigh Valley Live reported that court records state that Mejias was detained and is awaiting extradition proceedings to Pennsylvania, where she will face one count of homicide.

So far very little details about the crime have been released and no motive as to why the 21-year-old stabbed her own grandfather has been given.
