The Peruvian government has said that when Joran Van der Sloot finishes serving his prison term for the murder of Stephany Flores, he will be extradited to the U.S. He will then face charges that he extorted and defrauded the family of missing teen Natalee Holloway.

According to CNN, a Peruvian news agency reported that the country has agreed to extradite Van der Sloot, but only after he finishes serving out his 28-year murder sentence. The Dutchman will be eligible for release in 2038.

The New York Daily News noted that a decree published on Sunday stated that the 26-year-old will be brought to the states under an indictment in U.S. District Court in the State of Alabama.

Van der Sloot is the longtime suspect in the disappearance of Holloway, who was last seen on May 30, 2005, in Aruba.

Exactly five years later, Van der Sloot met, brutally beat and killed Flores in his Lima hotel room.

A U.S. judge, acting on the request of Holloway’s father Dave, eventually declared Natalee dead as well, although her body has never been found.
