Police have made an arrest stemming from the severed head found almost two years ago in Griffith Park near the Hollywood sign.
Los Angeles police arrested 38-year-old Gabriel Campos-Martinez with the help of authorities in San Antonio, Texas, where the suspect was, according to The Associated Press.
Campos-Martinez was arrested for the felony murder, with malice aforethought, of 66-year-old Coronado Medellin.
The coroner found that Medellin had been killed by asphyxiation. The two men were roommates for half a year.
After killing him, Campos-Martine dumped Medellin's head in a plastic bag in Griffith Park, reports Reuters. Two people, a mother and daughter, were walking their dogs and came across the severed head.
After the head was reported, over 120 officers, sheriff's deputies and firefighters looked through the park for the rest of the body. Other body parts were later discovered in the same park with the help of a cadaver-sniffing dog.
It is believed that Medellin's hands and feet were originally with the head, but were moved due to animals.
