A police officer is suing the city of Beverly Hills, alleging that he was punished for reporting on a fellow police officer who he caught allegedly ogling over the body of deceased pop singer Whitney Houston.
Back in September, a former Beverly Hills SWAT sergeant Brian Weir filed a report on Terry Nutall, claiming that he lifted up a sheet that covered Houston’s body. He wrote that Nutall said, “Damn, she’s still looking good, huh?” when he lifted the sheet.
Weir said it was done “for no legitimate law enforcement inquiry, investigative, or other proper and legal purpose.”
Now, Weir is suing the city, saying that he was fired from the SWAT team and K-9 unit, reports TMZ. He said he was also shut out of a promotion and benefits.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Weir’s suit also says that Nutall violated federal regulations by doing something that would anger any family without permission of a coroner. He also names high-level members of the police department, including Chief of Police David Snowden for punishing him for reporting Nutall.
The department’s public relations officer told THR that they haven’t been served with the suit yet. “Other than the fact that I am receiving phone calls from reporters on this, we haven't seen the lawsuit yet, so I can comment on it without seeing it and without consulting the city attorney. We are waiting to be served,” Lt. Lincoln Honisho said.
Houston died in February 2012 at age 48.
