A man who worked as both a counselor and guard at a detention center will serve time behind bars for sexually abusing a female prisoner.

According to the New York Daily News, when Theodore Raines worked at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, an inmate said that she was raped by him. Raines denied her claim and argued that the sex was consensual.

A second inmate then came forward and claimed that she too was sexually assaulted by the 60-year-old.

A judge sentenced Raines on Wednesday to 16 months in prison.

This comes on the heels of last week’s conviction of a utility repair man at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Conn., who pleaded guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a ward, the Associated Press noted.

And just one month ago, a former female prison guard at the same facility where Raines worked, was sentenced to one year in the slammer after having intercourse with and getting pregnant by a prisoner.

The MDC in New York City houses both male and female inmates of all security levels.
