Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus announced on Tuesday that he believes that the upcoming midterm elections will be a huge victory for the GOP.
Speaking at a Christian Science Monitor hosted breakfast, he claimed that the elections will be like a "tsunami" sweeping across the country for the Republican party, reports The Washington Post. "I think we're in for a tsunami-type election in 2014."
He continued, "My belief is that it's going to be a very big win, especially at the U.S. Senate level, and I think we may even add some seats in the congressional races."
Part of his confident believe in a GOP victory is that the Affordable Healthcare Law is "total poison" for Democrats. According to Politico, Reibus said that specifically the ACA is "intentionally designed to screw young people over."
The RNC chairman was willing to concede that the GOP did have some areas they had to work on, including in Asian, Hispanic and African American demographics, but they would sit down and figure out how to attract those voters.
The Post notes that he also admitted that even if the GOP was able to take back the Senate and retain control of the House, the 2016 presidential election would be a whole other beast. "I'm just very mindful of the differences between the two."
