Rider Strong, who played Cory Matthews’ best friend Shawn Hunter on Boy Meets World, will reprise his role in the spin-off Girl Meets World.
Strong will play Shawn during a holiday-themed episode of the show, which centers around Cory and Topanga’s daughter Riley and her best friend Maya.
Cory’s parents, Alan (played by William Russ) and Amy (Betsy Randle), will also appear in the episode. Their episode will be taped Tuesday night in L.A.
Strong told The Hollywood Reporter about playing Shawn again, "It's like time travel. I get to go back to high school, but now I have a clue of what's going on."
"These kids are too talented for their own good,” he also said of the new cast.
William Daniels, who plays Mr. Feeny and Lee Norris, who plays Minkus, will also appear in episodes of the show.
When the spin-off was first announced in 2012, Strong said at the time he had “no official involvement.”
“There might be a chance to see some of the BMW cast in a guest spot, and I think it would be nice to find out where our characters have been all these years,” he said at the time. “But Girl Meets World will be, and I think it should be, it’s own show. It will be about Cory and Topanga, their daughter, and a new set of characters.”
