With just a week to go before opening night, the producer of the latest Rockettes show, Hearts and Lights, has postponed the opening until next year.
MSG Entertainment said Friday that it had “become clear that additional work is needed” on the show, reports The New York Times. The producer did not give any further details, only saying that the show will now not open until 2015.
Hearts and Lights was set to be the most intricate show at Radio City Music Hall for the Rockettes yet. It will mix classic choreography with 3D effects, animatronics and other technology, notes The Associated Press.
The show actually has a loose story line penned by Tony winner Doug Wright. In it, two girls visit New York, looking into their grandmother’s past. Hearts and Lights would practically be a musical tour of New York, with several landmarks playing key roles.
Previews were supposed to start this Wednesday and run through May 4. Tickets will be refunded.
