Keith Richards, lead guitarist for the classic rock band The Rolling Stones, has announced he is turning his attention to a new project that has decidedly less guitar-shredding: writing a children’s book.
Richards will release his book, Gus & Me: The Story of My Granddad and My First Guitar, through a deal he signed with Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, according to Billboard. Richards’ daughter, Theodora, will provide the illustrations for the book.
The Gus in the title refers to Richards’ own grandfather, who he cites as an influential person in his life. “The bond, the special bond, between kids and grandparents is unique and should be treasured. This is a story of one of those magical moments. May I be as great a grandfather as Gus was to me,” said Richards in a statement reported by TheWrap.
Richards’ previous experience as an author was writing his own memoir, 2010’s Life. Me & Gus is set to be released on September 9.
