The postponement of The Rolling Stones’ tour due to the death of frontman Mick Jagger’s longtime girlfriend L’Wren Scott will reportedly cost the band $10 million. They canceled the Australian and New Zealand leg of their 14 on Fire tour to allow Jagger time to mourn.
Scott was found hanging in her Chelsea, New York City apartment on March 17, just a few days before the tour was to kick off on March 19.
It could be covered by insurance, but due to the abrupt canceling of the shows, it’s said that they’re losing money from deposits that were put down on venues, storage for their stage equipment and hiring 60 trucks to store it as well as ticket sales, Entertainmentwise reports.
The band is looking at setting October or November as possible dates for the missed shows, Michael Gudinski, whose represents the band with AEG told Billboard.
The tour was sold out, Gudinski said. "Apart from some last minute production releases, the shows were sold out immediately," he said.
