Rosario Dawson discussed her newest film Cesar Chavez which hit theaters on March 28. In the biopic film, Dawson plays renowned civil rights activist, Dolores Huerta.
According to the Associated Press Dawson said, "What's really remarkable about this movie is that it really shows how women, specially his wife, were such a big part of (Chavez's) life and how broad the community was of people that made this movement possible. He was a very sort of reluctant hero, he wasn't the best orator, speaker, speechwriter or any of these different things, but his message was really clear - he was speaking for himself, for his family and for the greater community."
The actress attended the Cesar Chavez Foundation 2014 Legacy Awards Dinner on Thursday March 27. According to Just Jared, the event was held at the Millenium Blitmore Hotel in Los Angeles. Dawson appeared with America Ferrera and director Diego Luna at the special event.
Dawson met the real life person, Huerta, a few years ago when they collaborated on Voto Latino. Dawson said that it is difficult playing someone who is still alive. Dawson has previously been seen in the films, Sin City, Death Proof, and Grindhouse.
