Pretty soon, Starbucks won’t just be known for coffee drinks. The company will be expanding their nighttime alcohol menu to thousands of stores, Chief Operating Officer Troy Alstead confirmed.
We’ve tested it long enough in enough markets -- this is a program that works,” he told Bloomberg. “As we bring the evening program to stores, there’s a meaningful increase in sales during that time of the day.”
However, for those who want instant gratification in their towns or cities, know that the expansion will take place over several years.
As of right now there are about 40 stores that have an evening menu that includes alcohol and light bites. Alstead said, however, selling alcohol won’t work everywhere and it will likely be limited to urban locations.
The menu, which becomes available at 4pm, is located in stores in Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Portland, Huffington Post reports.
In addition to wine and beer, Starbucks will offer complementary foods like truffle mac n’ cheese and back-wrapped dates.
