Taliban gunman attacked both a luxury hotel in Kabul and a Jalalabad police station, with the latter attack leaving 10 police dead.
The gunmen targeted the Serena Hotel in Kabul, which is known to be popular with foreigners, reports Fox News. The four gunmen were killed and there didn't appear to be any injuries from guests at the hotel.
Witnesses said that shooting began in the hotel's restaurant.
Earlier on Thursday, seven suicide attackers attacked the Jalalabad police station, with a truckbomb followed by an assault, according to AFP. The attackers were all killed, but 10 police, including the chief, and one civilian were killed as well. Fourteen others were injured.
The two attacks come as the Taliban has promised to use violent actions to disrupt the upcoming U.S.-backed election on April 5.
While claiming responsibility for both attacks, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said, "Our people, if they decide to attack any place, they can do it." He also claimed that there were actually 30 police who were killed, though the Taliban has been known to inflate figures.
