Over the weekend, singer-song writer Taylor Swift made a stop at New York Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center where she visited a number of her young fans.
On March 22 Swift was originally scheduled to spend an hour on the pediatric cancer floor. The floor is dedicated for children who are receiving a variety of different cancer treatments. Swift reportedly stayed on the designated floor for nearly five hours, according to HuffPost Celebrity.
One patient that Swift took the time to sit and talk to was Shelby Huff, who is a young girl who is suffering from post-transplant lymph proliferative disease. According to HuffPost Celebrity, Swift and Huff talked for about 20 minutes.
Hollywood Life reported that Huff’s family recorded the entire visit from Swift where it seemed that the two girls had known each other for years. Swift offered Huff guitar advice and Huff displayed her Taylor Swift posters that hang in her hospital room.
Huff’s mother even took to Facebook to share the memorable day.
“We are still in awe, Taylor Swift is a class act all around, she was so sweet, compassionate, asked US questions, got on skype with my other daughter, stayed in our room and talked with us and was completely down to earth,” Huff’s mother posted. “She hung out with us for at least 15-20 minutes. She was "scheduled" to be on our floor for 1 hour, but was here for 4.5 hours instead. Thank you Taylor, you are a beautiful woman inside and out!!”
According to Huff’s mother, Swift even requested that the two take some selfies with one another.
